About us<\/h2>\n

The hotel is located in Valbruna, in the territory of the Tarvisiano, in an enchanting setting with a stunning view of the Julian Alps and just a few kilometres from the town of Tarvisio. Malborghetto-Valbruna is a village in the mountains, a short distance from the ski district of Tarvisio. It is the perfect starting point for hiking, trekking, walking and snowshoeing. <\/p>\n

The History<\/h2>\n

Hotel Saisera can treat its guests to an amazing mix of breathtaking nature and places that have “made history”. Since its construction in 1912, its history has been linked to important names such as the Habsburg and Savoy dynasties. <\/p>\n

The hotel as we see it today was built in two separate stages. The first phase, which began in 1910 and lasted two years, was the work of the architect Andrea Keil from Valbruna. The final section, which represents about a third of the building, was completed in 1926 and gives the hotel its current character. <\/p>\n

The hotel was equipped with electricity as early as 1912, which was extended to the entire village of Valbruna precisely on New Year’s Eve of that year. From the very beginning, this establishment was a popular venue for international meetings of hikers, nature lovers and hunters. There have been many prominent visitors, including the King of Saxony, Frederick Augustus, who even set up his headquarters here in 1911. He was accompanied by his entire entourage after securing hunting rights (which he had purchased between 1905 and 1918). <\/p>\n

Giulio Kugy (considered the father of modern mountaineering), who became the promoter of tourism in Valbruna and made Hotel Saisera the benchmark destination for a significant contingent of mountain lovers, was one of the most important tourists!<\/p>\n

In 1938, Umberto II of Savoy (the last King of Italy) also spent some time in the Saisera Valley. In 1941 the hotel was taken over by the Ente Nazionale delle Tre Venezie. In 1958 it was purchased by the Centro Marinaro of the \u201cCini Foundation\u201d and then sold to the C.I.F. (Italian Centre for Women) of Venice and used as a holiday camp for the children of various categories of workers until it was closed in 1994. <\/p>\n

The hotel was reopened in 2003, having been restored to its former splendour after a long, demanding and costly restoration carried out by the C.I.F. of Venice, with the support of public institutions, professionals and private operators.<\/p>\n
